Responding to the shortage of essential medical supplies in Sri Lanka, the Singapore-Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA) donated medical supplies worth 38,983.85 SGD Singapore Dollars (approximately 10 million LKR) procured utilising funds raised through a public fundraising campaign launched by the SLBA.

The SLBA partnered with Ray of Hope (ROH), a Singapore Government approved charity partner to help raise funds that were utilised to procure much needed medical supplies for the citizens of Sri Lanka.

The consignment of medical supplies was handed over to Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Singapore, H.E. Sashikala Premawardhane, by Dr. Lal Gunasinghe, Treasurer of the SLBA on 17th November 2022.Ms.Chamendri Weeraratne, Secretary of the SLBA, and officials of the High Commission of Sri Lanka were present at the event.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka facilitated the airlift of the consignment of medical supplies to Sri Lanka through SriLankan Airlines on gratis basis via flight UL 309 which will depart Singapore on 18th November 2022.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore, and the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka facilitated the donation with necessary coordination and obtaining required regulatory approvals for the medical supplies to be sent.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka wishes to express sincere appreciation to the SLBA and all the donors who have contributed to the public fund-raising initiative, Mr Ashok Pathirage, Chairman Sri Lankan Airlines, who readily agreed to airlift the cargo on gratis basis, Mr Mohan Meegolle, Regional Manager, Sri Lankan Airlines, Dr. Anver Hamdani, Director Medical Technology Services and Coordinating In-Charge for Covid-19 and Healthcare donor activities of the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka for the excellent support extended towards this effort.
