The High Commission of Sri Lanka ceremonially commenced work on 1st January 2025 with the chanting of Pirith by the Ven. Theros of the Sri Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple in Singapore.
The official proceedings commenced with the hoisting of the national flag followed by the singing of the national anthem by the staff. The observance of a two-minute silence was followed in remembrance of all those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
The Mission staff then joined the live streaming of the launching of the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ National Programme at the Presidential Secretariat and took the ‘Clean Sri Lanka Oath’ pledging to uphold principles of unity, accountability, frugality, transparency, and equality free from cast, religious, or political prejudices and affirmed their commitment as public officials to create a thriving country and a beautiful life for the citizens of Sri Lanka.
The ceremony concluded with a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast to mark the dawn of the New Year. The visitors who had come to obtain its services of the High Commission also joined the refreshments.
