A networking event was held on 24th April 2025 at the Sri Lanka High Commission to connect Sri Lankan IT companies with the Sri Lankan-origin IT professionals based in Singapore. The purpose of the event was to bring Sri Lankan IT professionals onto one platform, enabling them to share ideas, learn from each other, and explore ways to support the upliftment of the IT industry in Sri Lanka.
In his opening remarks, High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake emphasized that the IT sector is crucial to Sri Lanka’s economic growth, and it is acting as a significant foreign exchange earner and a major source of employment. Digital transformation is considered one of the key priorities of the government of Sri Lanka to enhance efficiency and minimize corruption. This ambitious goal requires a collaborative effort from the government, private sector, academia, and civil society.
The Sri Lankan origin IT professionals in Singapore who are attached to reputed companies such as IBM, Oracle, and HP in Singapore sharing their views and experiences at the event and agreed to explore possibilities to support Sri Lankan IT industry. The representatives from Sri Lankan companies were in Singapore to participate in Gitex Asia 2025 – the Asia’s largest & most global tech, start-up & digital investments event held from 23-25 April in Singapore.
