As the inaugural event of FYIstival South Asia Edition, an initiative of Global Connect at the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), a webinar on “Accelerating Renewable Energy Investments in Sri Lanka” was organised together with Enterprise Singapore and the Sri Lanka High Commission on 30th March 2021.
The webinar provided details on the renewable energy policy of the Government aimed at achieving 70% of the total energy requirements of the country through renewable sources by 2030 and details on specific large scale and small scale renewable energy projects that are available for investment through open competitive tender processes, within this year.
Presentations were made by Mr. Sulakshana Jayawardena, Director (Renewable Energy Development, State Ministry of Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Project Development, Mr. Rohan Seneviratne, Addl. General Manager, Ceylon Electricity Board and Mr. Sanjaya Mohottala, Chairman, Board of Investment at the event.
Mr.K.V.Rao, Chairman, South Asia Business Group of Singapore Business Federation and Resident Director - ASEAN Tata Sons Private Limited and High Commissioner Sashikala Premawardhane made welcome remarks at the event.
One to one meetings with interested companies and relevant organizations of Sri Lanka were also organised on 31st March, 2021. Approximately 70 participants from key Singapore and Sri Lankan companies participated at the event. The event was coordinated by the Commercial Section of the High Commission with the relevant institutions in Sri Lanka and Singapore.
